How I Answered the Call to Offer Cacao Ceremony Facilitator Trainings

For a long time, I hesitated to offer Cacao Ceremony Facilitator Trainings. The voice of doubt whispered, Who am I to do this?

I had spent years working with cacao in ceremony, deepening my connection with this sacred plant medicine. Yet when the time came to teach others how to lead cacao ceremonies, I felt resistance. I wasn’t Indigenous. I didn’t grow up with cacao. Could I really guide others on this path?

But cacao kept calling—softly at first, then louder and louder.

The Journey to Sharing Cacao Ceremony Trainings

In 2021, after four years of practicing cacao rituals and sitting in ceremony, I felt a deep pull to share. Cacao gifted me two songs—melodies that came from nowhere yet carried her essence. We recorded them, and her call became stronger.

People began asking if I would ever teach them how to facilitate a cacao ceremony. I almost said no. Even after creating the cacao training course, I nearly didn’t release it.

That same fear crept in again: Who am I to do this?

Then, cacao called me back—to Guatemala, to Lago Atitlán, the heartland of cacao. I followed.

During a Mayan fire ceremony, cacao was present, as she always is. Afterward, I thanked the Indigenous elder leading the ceremony. Without knowing my internal doubts, he looked at me and said:

"You are ready. You need to share." Cacao had spoken through him.

In another ceremony, a local elder turned to me and said:

"Do you really think cacao cares who shares her, as long as it’s done with intention and a pure heart?"

That was the confirmation I needed. I finally released the Cacao Ceremony Training.

Letting Go of Fear & Stepping into My Purpose

Since then, I have led three Cacao Ceremony Facilitator Trainings in person, deep in the Costa Rican jungle. Each one has been a profound experience. But now, I feel a shift. Cacao is happy with my online cacao training, yet she has gently withdrawn from my in-person work.

This past year has also been a journey of learning to let go of external validation. I no longer seek approval from others to determine my worth. The fear of being questioned? It no longer holds me back. Cacao has shown me that when we answer her call with respect and integrity, we are always in alignment.
